The principal aim of the National DBT Office is to train new DBT teams across the country. In addition to this we will train therapists to join existing DBT teams and produce high quality research focussing on the implementation, evaluation and a cost/benefit analysis of DBT in Ireland.

To ensure the sustainability and long term-implementation of DBT, the Department of Health and the National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) has provided funding to the HSE, via the National DBT Office, to establish its own DBT Training team. This team consists of experienced DBT therapists, along with experts by experience and support staff (admin and research). This new training team and model of training will allow capacity to enhance teaching inputs nationally and support on-going research and audit of services ensuring quality and effectiveness of interventions to the target patient population. The National DBT training team will run training in Ireland from September 2021.
